Wicked Wednesday: Villains and Vengeance
Celebrate the baddies, schemers and soapland shockers we secretly adore…
Wednesday is a great time to share all those ghastly characters we love to hate. The soaps have had so many wonderfully wicked villains that have graced our screens over the decades. Whether they have been unintentionally hilarious like Uncle Stephen in Corrie or psychopathic like Meena in Emmerdale, we have loved to watch their vengeance play out on screen.
Activities for Wicked Wedneday
Post about your favourite soap villain
Share with everyone who your favourite soap villain is to celebrate all things soap. With so many to choose from, who will you post about to mark Wicked Wednesday? Will you talk about iconic Richard Hillman who took Gail and the family for a final watery dip back in 2003 or will you celebrate Janine Butcher, the ultimate husband-killing villain who let Barry fall to his death back on New Years Day in 2004.
Whether there is a villain who makes you laugh to tears or scares you with their villainous ways, you can post about your favourite soap villain and share using #WickedSoapWednesday and #SoapWeek. Why not create a poll to find out which villain wins the ultimate soap wrong’un?
Share a satisfying revenge storyline
Wicked Wednesday is the perfect time to talk about those satisfying revenge storylines that have kept us gripped to our screens over the years. When our favourite characters take revenge, they go to town in our favourite soaps.
Whether you want to remember Tracey’s iconic revenge antics over the past decades in Corrie or want to celebrate when Chrissie got Andy in the frame for murder in the Dales, you can celebrate all things revenge during Wicked Wednesday. Share a clip from the soap and we can all watch the villain in action before you donate in memory of the fun character.
Dress up like a baddie!
If you have a costume that just screams Mad Maya or Nick Cotton, why not dress up as a classic wrong’un to mark Soap Week. Go DIY soap crazy and show everyone your fabulous costume before donating to a charity of your choice in tribute to that fantastic soap villian.
If you don’t fancy dressing up, you could even do an impression of that classic soap villain. Make sure you share it with us so we can laugh at your great impressions.
Use #WickedSoapWednesday and #SoapWeek to share your Wicked activities on Wicked Wednesday.
Walk for Webster: Saturday 12 July, 2025
In honour of International Soap Week, co-hosts of Conversation Street Michael and Gemma are planning a three mile walk from the old Coronation Street set to the new one in Media City. Along the way we're going to stop at a few filming locations from Coronation Street from over the years - you can find our proposed route here.
The goal of this walk is to raise vital funds for Dementia UK, supporting the portrayal of Debbie Webster’s journey with vascular dementia on Coronation Street. Additionally, Nigel Bates in EastEnders is battling early onset dementia. This cause is close to our hearts, and with your donation, we can continue raising awareness about dementia, as well as show the incredible power of soap fans to bring about real change.
How You Can Help:
Every pound raised through this event helps show your support and raise awareness - thank you! If you’d like to join us on the walk itself, we’d love to have you with us. We just ask that you either donate to our fundraising page or set up your own soap-themed fundraiser. Whether you’re walking, sponsoring, or both, we’d be thrilled to have you involved!
Event Details:
Date: 12 July 2025
Time: 11:00 AM (starting at Saint John's Gardens, Manchester)
End: Approx. 1:00 PM (at Media City Studios)
We’ll keep the fundraiser open after the event to collect as many donations as possible, so please share this with others who may want to contribute.
Together, we can make a real difference, whether you walk with us or donate from afar!
