Throwback Thursday
Look back on those unforgettable moments that made you gasp, cry or cheer. Whether it’s a storyline that you loved like the Tram Crash to a character that has left the Square but is your timeless favourite, now is time to share those throwbacks with #SoapThrowbackThursday and #Soapweek
Activities for Throwback Thursday
Share your favourite iconic scene or storyline
Share a scene or a story you’ll never forget. Perhaps there’s a story that still makes you laugh out loud or perhaps there’s a scene that was poignant to you and what was happening in your life.
Whether the scene or story is from the Dales or from Eastenders, we would love to hear why you love it so much and what makes it funny, emotional or simply unforgettable to you. You could share a clip from the story, share an iconic quote or even make a video telling everyone which one you’ll never forget.
Re-enact your favourite scene
To mark Throwback Thursday, you could re-enact a beloved scene from your favourite soap. Why not get a group of friends to join together and make the moment stand out to celebrate all things soap?
You could even re-enact the scene solo and donate to a related charity to mark Soap Week. Share your video on social media and celebrate those special soap moments.
Create a tribute to a character
Celebrate an iconic character of your choosing by creating a tribute to a character who’s no longer with us. Whether you draw a picture of them, dress up in their famous choice of clothing or even share a few words of what made them great, this will be a great tribute to that special departed character.
Share your memories of first episodes
Whether you was there for the start of Doctors or remember the first punter in the Queen Vic, Throwback Thursday is the perfect time to look back at the first episode of your favourite soap and share your best memories. Lets celebrate all things soap and remember how these soaps became staples of television.
Remember to share your throwbacks using #SoapThrowbackThursday and #SoapWeek
Walk for Webster: Saturday 12 July, 2025
In honour of International Soap Week, co-hosts of Conversation Street Michael and Gemma are planning a three mile walk from the old Coronation Street set to the new one in Media City. Along the way we're going to stop at a few filming locations from Coronation Street from over the years - you can find our proposed route here.
The goal of this walk is to raise vital funds for Dementia UK, supporting the portrayal of Debbie Webster’s journey with vascular dementia on Coronation Street. Additionally, Nigel Bates in EastEnders is battling early onset dementia. This cause is close to our hearts, and with your donation, we can continue raising awareness about dementia, as well as show the incredible power of soap fans to bring about real change.
How You Can Help:
Every pound raised through this event helps show your support and raise awareness - thank you! If you’d like to join us on the walk itself, we’d love to have you with us. We just ask that you either donate to our fundraising page or set up your own soap-themed fundraiser. Whether you’re walking, sponsoring, or both, we’d be thrilled to have you involved!
Event Details:
Date: 12 July 2025
Time: 11:00 AM (starting at Saint John's Gardens, Manchester)
End: Approx. 1:00 PM (at Media City Studios)
We’ll keep the fundraiser open after the event to collect as many donations as possible, so please share this with others who may want to contribute.
Together, we can make a real difference, whether you walk with us or donate from afar!
